Sanssouci was the summer residence of Frederick the Great, King of Prussia. The palace was built after plans of the king himself by architect Knobelsdorff in 1745 as a ''Maison de Plaisance''.

The Middle Atlas is the westernmost part of the Atlas Mountains chains and covers an area of about 23000 square kilometres. Snow persists in the Middle Atlas in the winter above 600 metres.
