Plassenburg Castle in Kulmbach is one of the most
impressive castles in Germany. It was first mentioned in 1135. Since 1340 it is in possession of the Hohenzollern family.

Leuchtenburg Castle was first mentioned in 1221 when Hartmann IV von Lobdeburg-Leuchtenburg finished a lawsuit. From 1612 until 1871 the castle was used as a prison.

The ruins of Drachenfels (Dragons Rock) Castle is the famous landmark of the Siebengebirge. Siegfried, the hero of the German legend ''Nibelungenlied'' killed the dragon living in a cave, took a bath in the dragons blood and became invulnerable.
